Diversification

Diversification means spreading capital across different, weakly correlated instruments or currency pairs so that a loss on one position does not sink the whole portfolio. In FX trading its effectiveness hinges on pair correlations — for example EUR/USD and GBP/USD are strongly positively correlated, so trading both does not cut risk but multiplies it.
