Privacy policy

Your privacy matters to us. Below you will find full information about what data we collect, for what purposes, on what legal basis and what rights you have in relation to it. Our policy follows the EU GDPR Regulation (2016/679).

Data controller

The controller of your personal data is DragonFly · Jarosław Wasiński, with its registered office in Tarnowskie Góry, Poland (42-612), ul. Srebrna 47, entered into the commercial register under number KRS , tax ID NIP , REGON . For any matter related to the processing of personal data please contact us at [email protected].

Purposes and legal bases of processing

We process the personal data of forex-basics.com users for four purposes. First: providing the service electronically — making the portal's content available — on the basis of GDPR Article 6(1)(b) (performance of a contract for the supply of content). Second: sending the newsletter, if you have voluntarily subscribed to it — on the basis of GDPR Article 6(1)(a) (consent). Third: analytics and improving the portal (Google Analytics, anonymous traffic data) — on the basis of GDPR Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interests of the controller). Fourth: handling correspondence — when you write to us by email — on the basis of GDPR Article 6(1)(f).

Categories of data we collect

Depending on how you interact with the site, we may collect the following data. For a regular visit: IP address, browser type, operating system, time of visit, pages visited, referral source. For newsletter sign-up: email address and optionally a first name (if provided). For an "Ask a question" submission: email address (optional) and the body of the question. For an error report sent to the editorial team: email address and the message body.

We do not collect special categories of data (Article 9 GDPR) — no health data, no religious beliefs, no political opinions, no biometric data. We also do not collect financial data — we do not process transactions, accept payments or maintain accounts.

Retention periods

An email address subscribed to the newsletter is stored until you unsubscribe. Emails received by the editorial team are stored for 3 years from the date of arrival, for correspondence management and continuity of conversation. Anonymised Google Analytics statistics are stored according to the Google Analytics 4 settings — by default 14 months, after which they are automatically deleted. Technical data (server logs) are kept for a maximum of 90 days, for security and diagnostic purposes.

Your rights regarding personal data

Under GDPR Articles 15–22, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data. The right of access (Article 15) — you can ask which of your data we process and request a copy. The right of rectification (Article 16) — you can request correction of inaccurate data. The right of erasure (Article 17, "right to be forgotten") — you can request that your data be deleted when there is no basis for further processing. The right of restriction of processing (Article 18) — in defined situations you can require that we stop actively using the data, although we may continue to store it. The right of data portability (Article 20) — you can receive your data in a machine-readable format (such as JSON) for transfer to another controller. The right of objection (Article 21) — you can object to processing carried out on the basis of the controller's legitimate interest. To exercise any of these rights, simply write to [email protected].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority — in Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (uodo.gov.pl). We do, however, encourage you to write to us first — most issues are resolved directly and considerably faster than through the authority.

Cookies

Forex-basics.com uses cookies. Details about the categories of cookies, their purposes and retention periods are described in a separate document: Cookies policy. In short: we use cookies strictly necessary for the operation of the site (always active) and Google Analytics analytics cookies (only after consent in the cookie banner).

Newsletter — details

We send the newsletter once a week (on Saturday). The content of every email is one question and one answer — nothing more. We do not send sponsored content, we do not recommend specific brokers and we do not push investment signals in the newsletter. Unsubscribing is a single click — the "Unsubscribe" link is in the footer of every message. After unsubscribing your email address is removed from our database within 7 business days.
