Carry Trade

Carry trade is a strategy where you buy a high-interest-rate currency funded by a low-interest-rate one, earning the interest-rate differential (the rolled-over swap). The differential profit can be wiped out quickly by an adverse move in the exchange rate, which makes the strategy vulnerable to sudden spikes in volatility and position unwinding.
