Add modelled losses for up to eight positions and compare them with your account budget. See remaining headroom or an excess.
Start with an example
Capital 10,000 USD, limit 3%, modelled losses 100 and 75 USD: total 175 USD (1.75%), remaining budget 125 USD.

Pip value → position size → margin → portfolio risk. Transfer with a button and confirm before applying on the next page.
Data from the previous step
A draft remains usable for 30 minutes and is stored in this browser session on this domain. We do not send it to the server or put amounts in the URL. A browser may retain a restored tab session; use “Clear calculation draft” to remove the data.
How the result is calculated
Total modelled loss = amounts for positions 1–8. Percentage = total / capital × 100%. Budget = capital × limit % / 100. Headroom = budget − total; a negative amount means the budget is exceeded.
Worked example
Example: capital of 10,000 USD and your own 3% limit give a 300 USD budget. Positions with modelled losses of 100 and 75 USD total 175 USD, or 1.75% of capital. Budget headroom is 125 USD. Adding a position with a modelled loss of 150 USD raises the total to 325 USD and exceeds the budget by 25 USD.
You need reference capital, your own limit and each position’s modelled loss in one currency.
Loss amounts, rather than margins. Original diagram with fictional learning inputs; not a platform screenshot or broker offer.
Conclusion: add planned losses in the same currency, rather than notionals or margins. 3% is this exercise’s fictional limit.
Balance, equity and used margin
Read current account amounts in the same currency. Balance, equity including open P/L, and free margin describe different quantities.
For the loss budget, deliberately choose balance or equity and keep that definition throughout the plan. In the margin calculator, enter current equity and margin already used by other positions. Do not substitute free margin for equity or count the new position’s margin twice.
The risk percentage is your own assumption relative to the entered capital. Take it from your plan; an instrument specification cannot select it for you.
The example 1% or 3% is for practice and is not a recommendation. A cash budget does not guarantee the closing result: a gap, conversion-rate change or worse execution can increase the loss.
For each position, record volume, planned stop, per-lot pip value in account currency, separate fees and assumed slippage. Transfer the modelled loss from position sizing or calculate it using the same units.
Each field represents one position; enter 0 for an unused slot. Enter losses as positive amounts. Do not substitute required margin. The sum does not model correlation or reduce risk for an assumed hedge.
After confirming the complete chain from pip value to portfolio, collect assumptions and results in one plan. It is not saved automatically. Changed portfolio inputs or an expired draft invalidate the previous plan.
