Cookies policy

Forex-basics.com uses cookies. Below we describe the categories of cookies we use, for what purpose, how long they are stored and how you can manage them.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files written by your browser to the storage of your device when you visit a website. They allow a site to remember specific information — for example the language of the interface you selected, your acceptance of the cookie banner, or your display preferences. Cookies cannot independently execute code on your device, and they are not viruses.

Categories of cookies we use

On forex-basics.com we use three categories of cookies. First: essential cookies — without them the site does not work correctly. They store, for example, the fact that you have accepted the cookie banner, that you have chosen the English version of the interface, or that you are subscribed to the newsletter. These cookies are always active and do not require consent — they fall under the standard exception for cookies "strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user".

Second: analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4. They help us understand how readers use the portal: which articles are popular, how many people return, where the traffic comes from. The data is aggregated and anonymised — it does not allow us to identify an individual person. These cookies are only active after consent is given in the cookie banner on your first visit.

Third: preference cookies — they store your language choice, light/dark theme preference (if such an option is added) and other cosmetic settings. They are active after acceptance of the banner or after a deliberate change of settings by the user.

The specific cookies we use

Currently we use the following cookies:

  • cookie_consent (essential) — record of cookie banner acceptance, stored for 365 days.
  • lang_pref (preference) — chosen interface language (PL/EN), 365 days.
  • _ga, _ga_* (analytics, Google Analytics 4) — session and user identifier used for aggregated traffic analysis. Default retention 14 months or until manual clearance.

The list is updated whenever we change the portal's configuration — for example, if we add a new service (a comment system), we extend the list and update this document.

Third-party cookies

Analytics cookies are provided by a third party — Google LLC, the provider of Google Analytics 4. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. By consenting to analytics cookies you also accept Google's policy in this respect.

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not use a Facebook Pixel, we do not use a LinkedIn Insight Tag, and we do not use any cookie-based retargeting.

How to manage cookies

You can manage cookies in three ways. First: in the cookie banner on your first visit you choose whether to consent to analytics cookies. You can return to that choice at any time by clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of the site. Second: in your browser settings — every modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Brave) lets you delete cookies, block them for specific sites or block them entirely. Third: in incognito / private mode — in that case cookies are erased when you close the browser window.

Note that blocking cookies entirely (including the essential ones) may prevent the site from working correctly — for example the cookie banner will appear on every page, and your language choice will not be remembered.

Changes to this cookies policy

We update this policy as specific cookies are added to or removed from the portal. Any material change (for example, the introduction of a new category of third-party cookies) is communicated in the cookie banner — it reappears and asks for a new consent. Minor technical changes (for example, a change to the retention period of an existing cookie) are updated without renewed consent, but this document always reflects the current state.
