Swap and financing calculator
Calculate a financing charge or credit using your rate and the numbers of single and triple financing events.
Start with an example
Assume a charge of 8 USD per lot and a 0.10-lot position. 2 + 3 × 1 = 5 financing units, giving a financing balance of −4 USD.
Work through the calculations
Pip value → position size → margin → portfolio risk. Transfer with a button and confirm before applying on the next page.
Data from the previous step
A draft remains usable for 30 minutes and is stored in this browser session on this domain. We do not send it to the server or put amounts in the URL. A browser may retain a restored tab session; use “Clear calculation draft” to remove the data.
How the result is calculated
Financing units = single events + 3 × triple events. One position financing unit = rate per 1 lot × lots. Balance = financing units × one position unit, with a minus sign for a charge and a plus sign for a credit.
Worked example
Hypothetical example: a charge of 8 USD per lot for one financing unit, a 0.10-lot position, two single events and one triple event. Units = 2 + 3 × 1 = 5. One position unit is 0.80 USD, giving a total balance of −4 USD. The triple event is not also counted as a single event.

Inputs before results
Where do I find this calculator’s inputs?
Gather the instrument specification, account settings and your own assumptions. Do not treat default values as your broker’s settings.
Conclusion: 8 USD per lot does not mean 8 USD per night for this position. The triple event is not counted again as a single event.
Contract and volume specification
Open the specification for the exact symbol and account type you will use. In MT5: Market Watch → symbol context menu → Specification. Read the contract size per 1 lot and the minimum, maximum and volume step.
100,000 base-currency units per lot is our example assumption. A position of 0.10 lot then represents 10,000 units. A 0.01 step does not establish the minimum or maximum; check all three settings.
Return to the form ↑Financing units, sign and events
Read the rate for the correct position direction, calculation method, currency and instrument schedule. Raw points, an annual percentage and an account-currency amount are different units. For a fictional linear EUR/USD contract of 100,000 EUR per lot and a 0.00001 point, a point per lot is worth 1 USD. If financing is quoted in those points, −8 points means an 8 USD charge per lot for a single event on a USD account.
The swap calculator needs the account-currency amount per 1 lot for one single event. Financing fields in the P/L and cost calculators take the amount for the entire position and holding period. Select charge for a debit and credit for a positive payment; enter the amount without a minus sign. Count a triple event once as triple, without also adding it to singles. Do not assume one rollover weekday for every instrument.
