Bollinger Bands

Bollinger Bands are a volatility indicator built from a moving average (usually a 20-period SMA) plus two bands set a chosen number of standard deviations (typically 2) above and below it. The bands widen when volatility rises and contract when it falls, and a tight contraction (the squeeze) often precedes a stronger move.
