Stop hunting

Stop hunting is a move in price toward a level where many stop-loss orders are clustered, after which the price often reverses — triggered stops convert into market orders and supply the liquidity large players need. Because stops gather at predictable spots (round levels, recent highs and lows, range edges), it is usually anonymous market microstructure rather than a plot by your regulated broker.
