Liquidity providers are institutions — mainly banks, funds and specialised market-making firms — that continuously quote buy and sell prices for currencies, ensuring trades can be filled quickly and at a tight spread. Retail brokers source their prices from these providers, so the deeper the pool, the better the execution traders receive.
