AUD/USD (the aussie)

AUD/USD (the aussie) is a major pair showing how many U.S. dollars one Australian dollar buys (0.67 = 67 U.S. cents per AUD). It's a classic commodity currency and a proxy for China's economy: it rises when raw-material prices and risk appetite are strong, and falls when markets turn fearful. The rate is driven mainly by the RBA–Fed rate differential, commodity prices, and Chinese demand.
