Trade Balance
The trade balance is the difference between the value of a country's exports and imports of goods over a given period. A surplus (exports > imports) tends to support the currency and a deficit to weaken it; in forex the figure matters relative to forecast, and the US trade balance release can move the dollar in the short term.
