Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the broadest measure of the value of goods and services an economy produces in a period, usually reported as a real change quarter-on-quarter or year-on-year. In the US the Bureau of Economic Analysis publishes it in three successive estimates per quarter (advance, second and third) at an annualised pace. For markets it is a confirming, lagging indicator — the dollar moves clearly mainly on a large deviation from consensus or a downward revision.
