Payout

A payout is a payment due under an agreement, such as a prop-program reward. It differs from an on-screen result or withdrawal of one's own broker balance. A simulated program can base rewards on virtual results; eligibility, share and timing are contractual terms.

Illustrative example

How does it work in practice?

Under a hypothetical prop contract, eligible performance is 1,000 USD, the trader's share is 80% and the transfer fee is 10 USD. Net payment is 790 USD if all other conditions are met.

A case to work through

A contractual reward

Model: eligible simulated result 800 USD, share 75%, payment fee 12 USD; other conditions are met.

  1. The share is 800 × 0.75 = 600 USD.
  2. After the fee, entitlement is 588 USD; transfer requires separate confirmation.

What follows? Check eligibility and payment status separately.

Example boundary: These invented terms may differ from actual contracts.

A useful distinction

Payout / Realized P/L

Realized P/L is a booked trade result; a payout is a separate contractual payment.

Check your understanding

Separate performance basis, payment entitlement and actual transfer.

Result 600 USD, share 80%, fee 10 USD. What is the modeled entitlement?

Show the answer and explanation

470 USD

600 × 0.80 − 10 = 470 USD.
