The Bank of England (BoE) is the United Kingdom's central bank, responsible for monetary policy. Its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) sets the Bank Rate at scheduled meetings, and decisions on rate changes plus the tone of guidance are among the strongest short-term drivers of the pound (GBP).
