Copy trading
Copy trading automatically implements a selected provider's decisions in a subscriber's account under platform rules. Sizes, prices and eligible trades may differ because of capital, settings and execution. Losses remain possible, and the service's regulatory treatment depends on its model and jurisdiction.
Illustrative example
How does it work in practice?
On a hypothetical platform, a signal to buy 10,000 EUR is scaled to 10% in your account, giving 1,000 EUR. Your fill price can differ from the provider's; calculate results from your own executions.
A case to work through
A copy below minimum size
Model: signal size is 0.03 lots, scaling 20%, minimum 0.01 lots; this platform skips below-minimum orders.
- The requested copy is 0.03 × 0.20 = 0.006 lots.
- 0.006 is below 0.01, so this model produces no trade.
What follows? Check minimum-size handling before comparing histories.
Example boundary: Other platforms can use different rules; do not assume automatic rounding.
