The Caixin Manufacturing PMI is a monthly private survey of purchasing managers at Chinese manufacturers, compiled by S&P Global and sponsored by Caixin Media. Its sample leans toward smaller, private, export-oriented firms, so it can diverge from China's official NBS index. A reading above 50 signals expansion and below 50 contraction; surprises move the Australian and New Zealand dollars first, not the US dollar.
