Marubozu

A marubozu candle has a body covering all or nearly all of its high–low range. A full bullish version opens at the low and closes at the high; a bearish one reverses those relationships. It describes a substantial net move rather than total participant control or certain continuation.

Illustrative example

How does it work in practice?

Assume the open and low are both 100 USD, while the close and high are both 105 USD. This wickless candle is a bullish marubozu; the following period can still close lower.

A case to work through

Full body, unknown path

Hypothetically, O=L=20 and C=H=25.

  1. Body and range both span 5, so body share is 100%.
  2. OHLC does not reveal how often price reversed between 20 and 25.

What follows? Describe absent shadows and net change without claiming a one-way move.

Example boundary: Small-shadow variants need tolerances; geometry does not determine the next direction.

A useful distinction

Marubozu / Doji Candle

Marubozu has a body near the full range; doji has opening and closing values close together.

Check your understanding

Identify the limits of inference from wickless OHLC.

O=L=40 and C=H=46. What can be stated?

Show the answer and explanation

The candle has no shadows and a net change of 6

That follows from the supplied OHLC.
